Ontario condominium corporation prefixes
TSCC, MTCC, PSCC, YRSCC, OCSCC — what the letters mean, and what your corporation's name tells you about the building before you read a single report.
How the name is built
Every Ontario condominium corporation is named from two things: the land registry division it was registered in, and its type. The number at the end is simply the order of registration within that division.
Toronto Standard Condominium Corporation No. 2417
The same division, four different names
Take Peel as an example. One division, but the legal name changes with the type of corporation:
| Type | Legal name | Short form |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Peel Standard Condominium Corporation | PSCC |
| Common elements | Peel Common Elements Condominium Corporation | PCECC |
| Vacant land | Peel Vacant Land Condominium Corporation | PVLCC |
| Registered before May 2001 | Peel Condominium Corporation | PCC |
The same pattern applies in every division. A vacant land corporation in York Region is a York Region Vacant Land Condominium Corporation; a common elements corporation in Toronto is a Toronto Common Elements Condominium Corporation.
Every land registry division

Short forms are shown only where the abbreviation is well established in practice. Several divisions — the North, South, East and West variants in particular — are historic registry offices covering the same county, and corporations registered through them carry that office's name.
Divisions in northern Ontario are listed for completeness. We work from Vaughan and Ottawa, generally within 500 km of the Greater Toronto Area, so northern corporations fall outside our service area.

Corporation Names and Prefixes
What do the letters in my condominium corporation's name mean?
The letters are an abbreviation of the corporation's legal name, which is built from the land registry division where it was registered plus its type. TSCC 2417, for example, is Toronto Standard Condominium Corporation No. 2417.
Why do some corporations not have the word Standard in the name?
Corporations registered before the Condominium Act, 1998 came into force on 5 May 2001 were named without a type word — York Condominium Corporation, Peel Condominium Corporation, Metropolitan Toronto Condominium Corporation. A name without a type word therefore indicates an older building.
What are the other condominium types?
Standard, common elements, vacant land, phased and leasehold. The type appears in the legal name, so a common elements corporation in Peel is a Peel Common Elements Condominium Corporation and a vacant land corporation is a Peel Vacant Land Condominium Corporation.
Why are there divisions like Waterloo North and Waterloo South?
Several counties historically had more than one land registry office, and corporations registered through each carry that office's name. They are the same county for every practical purpose, but the legal names differ.
Does the prefix affect the reserve fund study?
Not directly — every Ontario condominium corporation follows the same three-year cycle. It is useful as a shortcut: a pre-2001 name signals an older building, which usually means components closer to replacement and a funding plan that needs closer attention.
